HEHD 8880 - Special topics: Youth and Nature

As an avid outdoorsman, it saddens me that for a variety of reasons, in general, teens tend not to spend a great deal of time in nature based settings. Being outdoors was an integral part of my childhood and adolescence. As a youth development leader, I try to connect youth to nature as often as possible, so they can experience the physical and emotional benefits

I have chosen my Critical Analysis paper for my primary artifact for Special Topics: Youth and Nature because it explores some of the causes for the separation of youth and nature, and offers solutions to the problem. I anticipate that the preparation of this artifact will aid me greatly as a youth development leader, because I now have a greater understanding of some of the causes of the separation of youth and nature, and have identified strategies for combatting this separation in my community.
