HEHD 8000 Foundations in Youth Development

The first course that I took in Clemson’s Youth Development Leadership Program was Foundations of Youth Development, which discussed the primary theories of youth development. The course included extensive discussion of how the practice of youth development has evolved, so I chose to write the Youth Issues Paper as included in this ePortfolio to expand my knowledge of the expectations of contemporary youth development practitioners.

This paper can be useful in my professional life because it highlights the importance for youth development professionals to gain competencies associated to effectively work with young people. As a youth development leader, it is critical that I connect colleagues to learning opportunities that help to foster these competencies.
